What is Dolphin?

Our Vision is a Kenya free from sexual violence, a place where all women, girls, and children are provided the basic safety and liberty to work, study, and play without fear.

The scale of sexual violence in Kenya today may seem insurmountable, but education has proven effective against all odds.  Experience has shown that the skills we teach have allowed the target population to stop 85% of sexual abuse cases on their own.  Empowered with the skills Dolphin teaches, no one should have to become a victim of sexual violence due to ignorance.

Since 1998, Dolphin has reached more than 1,000,000 women and children.

Our Core Values

1. To eliminate sexual violence through education and training of prevention and self protection strategies.

2. To develop and disseminate information, education and communication materials (IEC) on sexual violence and HIV/AIDS prevention as resources for schools, churches and women groups.

3. To provide knowledge on medical and legal assistance for sexual violence survivors.

4.To provide knowledge of sexual offense law.

Self-protection skills show children how they can easily defend themselves against sexual violence. They are taught between 20-25 skills that could be applied in any attack, regardless of how many perpetrators are present, how strong they are, and whether or not they are armed. The skills are simple, practical, effective and easy to learn.

More than 3,000 people have reported using these skills to stop a potential rape.

Learn how.
